Handicrafts are very popular among new Scouts in camp. Basketry is a straight-forward merit badge good for first year campers. Leatherworking and Woodcarving merit badges offer Scouts the chance to learn about hobbies that continue to interest many adults. Indian Lore allows Scouts to learn more about Native American culture.
Basketry, Leatherworking, and Woodcarving are offered all morning on a walk-in basis. Boys can get instruction with completing requirements. They can also work on projects in the Handicrafts area.
This flexible scheduling allows boys to earn these merit badges on their own time so as not to interfere with the Project First Class program or other more intense merit badges.
All of these merit badges require supplies available at the Trading Post.
